From fighting tuberculosis in 1917 to generating clean energy now, Breathe California Sacramento Region has developed a national reputation for finding ground-breaking and creative solutions to the region’s greatest lung health threats.

Through our rich history spanning over 100 years, Breathe has made lasting changes. We helped make light rail a reality in Sacramento, pioneered the creation of smoke-free workplaces and restaurants, fought for the passage of the Proposition 99 tobacco tax initiative, and played an instrumental role in phasing out rice straw burning in the Sacramento Valley. There is still much work to be done to ensure every breath our region takes is a healthy one.
