Angelica the Mother

Meet Angelica, devoted mother of two growing, rambunctious boys. Her 4-year old son César used to cough all night. Not knowing what else to do, she treated his phlegm with an over-the-counter rub. Angelica wanted to do more for César, so she participated in two Parent Asthma Classes taught by BREATHE doctors and volunteers at Elkhorn SETA Head Start. During the fall and spring, BREATHE provided Angelica and other parents with a basic understanding of asthma symptoms, triggers and medication. Angelica discovered that César had undiagnosed asthma. Now she can prevent his suffering, by getting him properly diagnosed and avoiding his triggers like cold weather and springtime allergens. She is dedicated to preventing César’s younger brother from developing asthma in the first place, and we think that is simply invaluable.
