Alison the Advocate

Meet Alison, a dynamic resident living in a multifamily senior housing community in Folsom. Allergic to the cigarette from neighboring units, living in her own home made Alison sick with itchy eyes, inflamed nose and throbbing sinuses. Desperate for a solution, she called BREATHE. We provided Alison with resources and guidance to approach the City of Folsom. As a result, Mercy Housing Management Group will convert Alison’s apartment community to a smoke-free property. BREATHE and Alison continue to work with the city of Folsom to include smoke-free multifamily housing in their tobacco control ordinance. “Exposure to tobacco smoke makes me very sick. This is not a politically correct issue; it’s a poison issue.” –Alison
